Be a part of the next big web-startup
Venture Weekend is an event where entrepreneurs from different disciplines join forces with the best and the brightest aspiring entrepreneurs at UT Austin! You spend one weekend together with a goal: to create a thriving and innovative web-technology venture. Everyone involved gets an equity stake and leaders will emerge!
The best of the best from all disciplines
Venture Weekend participants have diverse skill sets (coders, designers, marketers, salespeople, etc.). Everyone has a role in the vision and execution of the technology company and the company formed will sustain itself through continued development and natural leadership. The following is a list of ideal Venture Weekend roles, but it is not exclusive, as entrepreneurship demands talents in all areas:
1. Software Design
2. Software Developer
3. User Experience
4. PM (Product / Project / Program Manager)
5. Biz Dev
6. Marketing / PR
7. Legal
8. Graphic Design
What happens immediately at the start of the weekend?
Participants sign a non-disclosure and non-compete before joining the team. A local Austin entrepreneur will coordinate a brainstorming session that helps get the group rolling towards a common (or uncommon) goal.
Sleep?
Probably not. But if you're inclined, there will be dozens of large pillows and blankets at your disposal.
What happens after the weekend? Equity?
Ideally, a solidified development and networking structure is established between participants to facilitate further business development. Equity is not handed to participants initially because no one company demands the same rigid equity structure that many entrepreneurs lose sleep over. Rather, participants equity is vested over time and the emerging leadership from the weekend will help coordinate the equity stakes.
